Black and white

The other day I was taking pictures of Lucy in front of a new backdrop that I got.  It was one of those impromptu things where it wasn't like I was taking the pictures for any real reason but, because I am a perfectionist, I found myself getting frustrated that the only kid I can't get to smile in pictures is my own!  When I was talking to my sister later about it and how silly I felt for getting frustrated she mentioned that it's one of the reasons why mothers come to love the picture of their kid pouting or breaking down for the camera. Sometimes you just need to work with what you've got.  This picture was my way of celebrating the moments I may want to get frustrated but need to relax and enjoy the show no matter what comes my way because toddlers and children alike will be unpredictable. It's okay to capture those moments too!

And just so you know through everything I did get one picture of her semi-smiling, with the addition of those watery eyes it is pretty darn precious!

"Prank Wars" e-book is here!

For those who don't already know my sister, Stephanie Fowers, is a talented LDS Chick Lit writer.  Her third book, "Prank Wars", just came out on e-book and it is a "don't miss".  I'm not just saying this because she's my sister but I deeply believe it to be true.  Her books are a delightful mix of whit, plot twist and romantic comedy.  This book is NO EXCEPTION.  In fact this one has one more element that might surprise you if you've read her other novels.  This novel is a mystery as well!  I had the opportunity to preview her book during it's time as a mere manuscript and it is my favorite so far!  So check it out!  It's now available on Amazon!

Fashion Blog Official Starting Date!

You know it's been crazy and I have so many excuses not to do this right now but I also know if I don't start it's never going to happen. So I am officially setting the goal to have my fashion blog up by March 1st!  This is a big deal.  It's not like I think I can lead the next wave of fashion but it's something I want to do as much for myself as other people in my situation (mommy, poor, mid to late 20's, trying to find that nitch!)  I want to get myself back into doing self portraits and give myself something to keep my style motivated.  It has just never seemed right to have it on my photo blog, especially because I have so many things I want to do with it that I am sure would take over my photo blog real fast and I would like to keep this blog for my business and photo challenges.

In light of this, I am entering in a self portrait to the Paper Mama's challenge.  This is a pic I took a couple of months back of a dress I flipped from a 90's housedress into a forties inspired dress (I'll share it on my fashion blog) , red lipstick and all!

E Newborn

Wow.  Can I just say what an amazing baby E was for our session?!  Such a hansom baby too, I just can't get over how cute he is!  I loved the feeling of this little guy in my arms, I totally forgot how it was to hold a newborn and boy do I miss it!  So here are some photos from the session, enjoy!

Favorite

I wanted to link up to the PaperMama photo challenge this week before I leave for the weekend to take newborn photos for my friend, so excited to share when I get back.  Until then I leave everyone with my "favorite photo from January", this picture makes me sigh when I look at it.  We were snowed in for a few days and going stir crazy when I took this, Lucy was looking out her window very seriously...

And this is what she saw, so you can see why she was so concentrated, one of the things I love about this place, the trees and pretty scenery!
