The Paper Mama 2010 Holiday Card Challenge!

I have been planning this one for a little while now, just ask my long-suffering husband;) I am a big believer in nothing Christmas before Thanksgiving so in that vein of thinking I had to wait to take our Christmas card pictures until after Thanksgiving celebrations were at an end, which was killing me because I couldn't wait to put this together;) So what do you think?  Cute eh? I thought so:P

Did I mention I'm a little Crazy...?

I don't know about the rest of you but once I start on a craft kick it's hard for me to get out, I just keep going and don't know when to stop.  So I started out by making this striped hat for Lucy out of an old thrift store sweater and it just kept going from there until I had made a couple more hats, an ear-warmer headband plus a few other things I haven't even taken pictures of yet.  This first picture is pretty much one of my faves of Lucy!  I am entering it into the Paper Mama Photo Challenge, Eyes...

Sisters!

My sisters, Jacqueline and Stephanie, came to visit this last weekend and it was a BLAST!  I love spending time with my sisters (I have 5 total).  My family has always been encouraging as far as exercising our artistic abilities.  My sisters, Stephanie and Jacqueline, are amazing movie makers and do styling for shoots and movies quite a bit so I was excited to do a shoot with them, apparently no one told the weather though because it ended up being soooo bad (I mean freezing blizzards all day) that we were only able to get a few pictures before we had to rush back inside so we didn't get sick.  But it was fun and we got a few good shots, so I thought I would post a few.  Maybe someday we'll be able to do a real styled shoot, but until then... 

Lucy's first Snowfall!

Yep, already snowing here in Eastern Idaho.  Here is Lucy watching it with rapt attention, I love how excited she was.  You can just imagine how unconstrained her excitement was when we had to go out into it, she kept trying to grab the thick flakes as they fell.  I'm entering this into the Sorta Fairytale Photo challenge: windows to the soul, enjoy!

Before and After...

I have been meaning to do one of these for a while and right now as, Lucy and I are quarantined with the cold, there is no better time:)  This is from the photoshoot I did with my girlfriends in the old train yard.  I put this through light room first in RAW and used my own preset I call "Surrealum".  I increased the vignette, the vibrance, and contrast and lowered the  saturation to give it a vintage look.  Then I took it into CS5, cleaned up the background, (though the trailer was attractive;) and gave it more of a haze.  Then I sharpened the wings on her shirt to make them stand out a bit more.  So enjoy!

More Leaf Eating;P

We had uncommonly good weather the other day so I decided to go on a walk with Lucy to the park and let her play in the leaves while I played with my manual focus a bit;).  She didn't really "play" though, instead she just tried to eat every leaf, stick, and pinecone she could get her chubby little fingers on;) This wasn't exactly new to me since she had done this before, but I was surprised by the force of her determination.  I wasn't fast enough before she was shoving another fresh handful of goodies into her mouth! So I ended up getting a lot of fun pictures out of the deal and having to use the old hook finger to get debris out of her mouth more than once, all in all a good day.  The first picture I am entering into a new (for me) photo contest: The Moments in Between, the theme is Look Up, so enjoy!

The Paper Mama Challenge: Food

This is one of my all time favorite photos of Lucy involving food.  It's from a car trip we took a few weeks ago and I remember fishing out my camera to take this picture because I loved how the brown color of the food she was eating (I think it was prunes) made her eyes look intensely blue...

JustForFun Photoshoot!

One of my friends My Best Friend, Katie, came up last weekend and so my girlfriends and I decided to do a fun photoshoot together at the old train tracks and Seed house, I love these old buildings in Rexburg, they really make it worth living here! Obviously I didn't take the pictures that have me in them but I edited them so I guess that's worth something, right?:)

Two Moms Made a Photo Challenge: Composition

This was a fun one, I went out with some of my girlfriends the other day and did a fun photoshoot down by the old train station and seed house, yep, they have one of those here (sometimes I love living in Rexburg because of the older parts of town).  This pic just happens to fit in with the TMMAPC this week!  I will post more from the shoot when I get more edited!

My little Sock Monkey!

I made Lucy into a sock monkey for Halloween!  Her costume was made mostly of thrift store finds.  The hat I made from a turtleneck off of an old knit shirt and the body was a pair of old pj's that, though much too wide on Lucy, still looked cute;) Then I added the detail work using felt and some old buttons. 
I guess when you don't sew clothing and are a poor college student this is about the best you can hope fore;) Lucy makes this costume look like gold though, lucky thing she's so cute! I am entering this picture into two challenges this week!
